Women’s Equality Day Celebration

Mayor Megan Barry will be the featured speaker at the Women’s Equality Day wreath-laying at the Tennessee Woman Suffrage Monument. Re-enacters will portray the five suffragists. The Suffrage Monument Board will be joined by the League of Women Voters, the Parthenon Conservancy and the Tennessee Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution to lay wreaths on the monument to memorialize the service of the five suffragists’ work to insure that Tennessee became the 36th and final state needed to ratify the 19th Amendment in August 1920. Participants should plan to bring a lawn chair and an umbrella (for shade or rain).
